Introducing the Rodecaster Video Core
Rode has expanded its production tool lineup with the Rodecaster Video Core, a cost-effective alternative to its flagship Rodecaster Video and the mid-range Video S. Designed for creators who are either entering the world of livestreaming or seeking to add HD video capabilities to their existing audio setups, the Video Core offers a simplified yet powerful solution. The most notable change is the removal of physical controls, shifting all operations to the Rodecaster App, which centralizes control and streamlines the user experience.
Connectivity and Features
The Rodecaster Video Core is equipped with versatile connectivity options, including three HDMI-in ports, one HDMI-out, four USB-C ports, two 3.5mm audio jacks, and two Neutrik combo ports. This allows users to connect up to four video sources simultaneously, including network cameras via Ethernet. Additionally, the Rode Capture app enables wireless integration of iOS device feeds, while automatic audio-based switching between feeds reduces the need for manual management during multi-person streams. For those already using Rode’s audio consoles, the Rodecaster Sync app offers seamless integration, allowing shortcuts to be set directly on pads and enabling unified control of audio and video setups.
Streaming and Recording Capabilities
The Rodecaster Video Core is designed to support direct streaming to popular platforms such as YouTube and Twitch, as well as other custom platforms. Users can record footage to external drives and, with a new firmware update, export EDL files for use in DaVinci Resolve. The device also supports importing media in non-standard resolutions and aspect ratios, automatically scaling and optimizing content for the show. This flexibility makes it an ideal choice for creators producing content for diverse platforms, including social media.
